about circus

Since his beginnings (1776 by Astley in England), circus was the place where were

mixed all kind of disciplines, but at the beginning of XIX e century it became hidebound himself. Since about thirty of years, in France, people not from circus families began to try new things in this art, so is born "new circus". This one nursed himself by dance, theatre, and present music. Today we name it too "circus of creation" or "contemporary circus".

His characteristics are precisely that each company develop its own sensitivity, own artistic way. It results of this a lot of diversities of performances. Circus skills don't exist no more only for feat but for narration or at least fine aesthetic. They mix with all forms, old and new, of actor playing (theatre, clown, mime, mask, puppet etc...), of dances, musics, plastic arts...

The circus experience these last years a lightning expansion.
